Scholarships

At Mufid Seminary, we believe in supporting dedicated and passionate students who are committed to advancing their knowledge of Islam and making a positive impact in their communities. To this end, we offer three merit-based scholarships to exceptional students who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership potential, and a commitment to our values. These scholarships are designed to support future leaders in Islamic scholarship and community service, nurturing their dedication to making a meaningful impact in their communities and beyond.

Eligibility Criteria for All Scholarships
While all are welcome to apply for scholarships, preference is given to applicants currently pursuing study (or recent graduates within 2 years) at an accredited North American universities and who are between 17-33 years of age.

Scholarship & Aid Process:
Applying for a scholarship at Mufid Seminary is simple and accessible! Students applying to the Foundations Program and MDiv in Islamic Studies program are automatically considered for a scholarship—no additional materials are required. To be eligible, students must submit their application by the program deadline, with priority consideration given to early applicants.

For those applying to a certificate program or auditing a course, scholarship consideration requires a 250-word statement of purpose, an unofficial transcript, and a character reference letter from a religious scholar. In your essay, share your passion for Islamic studies, why you chose to study at Mufid, and how this scholarship will support your academic and personal goals. Additionally, highlight past experiences in Islamic learning and community service that demonstrate your dedication and suitability for this opportunity.

Shaykh al-Saduq Scholarship

For Applicants to the Foundations Program

The Shaykh al-Saduq Scholarship, named after one of Shaykh al-Mufid's esteemed teachers, provides financial support to students enrolled in the Foundations Program. Covering between 25% and 100% of tuition, this scholarship is awarded to students who demonstrate a strong commitment to Islamic learning and community service while upholding the core values of Mufid Seminary. Recipients must maintain a minimum 3.5 GPA and commit to 10 hours per week of service for one year, contributing meaningfully to the seminary and the broader community.

Shaykh al-Tusi Scholarship

For Applicants to the MDiv Program

Designed for students enrolled in the MDiv in Islamic Studies, the Shaykh al-Tusi Scholarship provides partial or full tuition assistance (25% to 100%) for those demonstrating outstanding academic performance, leadership, and service-oriented values. This scholarship ensures that dedicated students have the financial support needed to complete their advanced studies. Recipients are expected to maintain a 3.5 GPA and contribute 10 hours per week of service for one year as part of their commitment to the mission of Mufid Seminary.

Sayyid al-Radhi Scholarship

For Applicants to the Quranic Arabic Certificate & Auditing Students

The Sayyid al-Radhi Scholarship, named after one of Shaykh al-Mufid’s most prominent students, offers annual merit-based awards covering 25% to 50% of tuition for students enrolled in the Quranic Arabic Certificate Program or auditing courses at Mufid Seminary. This scholarship recognizes students who demonstrate academic potential, dedication to Islamic learning, and active engagement with their studies. Recipients must maintain a 3.0 GPA and are encouraged to participate in the seminary’s academic and community initiatives.
